The second anchor is ticketed and runs later. Tejas Rodeo Company sits just north of San Antonio in Bulverde, and from March through November the Saturday Night Rodeo runs under the lights of the covered arena. Doors open at 5:00 PM, the rodeo starts at 7:30 PM, and live country music and dancing continue until midnight. Two 2026 dates worth circling: Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 7:30 PM at Tejas Rodeo Grounds, and the season closer on November 28.

The two anchors don't compete so much as split the fall. Musik in the Park owns the September and October Saturdays it's scheduled on. Tejas Rodeo owns most of the others. If you keep both on your fridge, you have a rough map of the season without doing any more work.

The 10-and-11 Rule That Reshaped the Night

Locals who moved here before 2024 remember when outdoor shows drifted later. That changed after residents near Screaming Goat Yard & Tap raised complaints and the city council responded.

The venue was required to ensure that all outdoor concerts concluded by 10 PM on weekdays and 11 PM on weekends, alongside stricter limits on amplified outdoor sound and specific hours during which such activities would be allowed.

The dining pattern depends on which anchor you're aiming at.

If Musik in the Park is your evening, the useful window is early: dinner between 5:00 and 6:30 PM, then a short drive to the park for the 7:00 PM downbeat. That's when a fast, family-workable table matters more than ambience. Specht's Texas is the historic Texas saloon dating to 1890 with hearty food and live music, Antler Cafe is the legendary local eatery with the antler-filled décor, and The District on 46 is the multi-tenant family-friendly complex with food, drinks, shopping, and a game room. Any of those absorb a family of five without a reservation and put you back in the car in time to grab a decent patch of grass.

If Tejas is your evening, the pre-show shifts. Rodeo tickets sell out and same-day gate sales are limited to 9:00 PM dance-only admission at the regular rate, so you're either buying in advance and arriving early, or you're skipping the rodeo itself and coming in later for the dance. Both patterns exist. Neither is wrong. The 9:00 PM dance-only cutoff is the piece most new residents don't realize until they've been turned away once.

If you're skipping both anchors and building a slower Saturday, the in-town rotation looks different. Twine opened at 2471 Bulverde Road on October 2, offering a swanky hangout for parents and children alike, and owner Kristina Zinna, a former Rackspace employee, built the concept around wanting a nearby spot for a drink or a quick nibble instead of hauling her family to the JW Marriott, combining sophisticated fare for adults with a family-friendly play space. That is a specific gap in the Bulverde dining scene closed by a specific person, and it's why Twine reads differently than the older saloons. Twine is the first phase of the complex, with Vincenzo's coming next for higher-end Italian and a members-only lounge with wine and cigar lockers. Watch that address.

For the wine-and-tapas set, Verde Bistro is the downtown tapas and martini bar focused on fresh handcrafted dishes and cocktails, and Gennaro's Trattoria fills the Italian slot in town. For biergarten energy, Screaming Goat Yard & Tap runs a weekly programming grid that answers the "what's on tonight" question every night of the week, from Tipsy Goat Trivia with live music, drink specials, and biergarten games starting at 7 PM on Tuesdays, to Grammy-nominated songwriter David Lee hosting Lamplighter Songwriter Night every Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM. Saturday there tends to be a bigger booked act, subject to the 11 PM outdoor cutoff described above.

Delivery pizza before a Musik in the Park concert is a different logistical option than herding kids into a sit-down dinner, and this is the first serious version of that option to land on Bulverde Road.

The second is the phase-two build at Twine's address. When Vincenzo's opens with a private dining room and a members-only lounge, the Bulverde Road corridor picks up a category the town has mostly outsourced to San Antonio for years. Locals who currently drive south for a wine-locker anniversary dinner may stop doing that.

What to Watch as the Season Closes

Two dates carry more weight than the rest.

The last Musik in the Park concert of the fall is one of the two October Saturdays on the fall schedule of three concerts, in September and two in October. After that, the park goes quiet for the season and the free-outdoor-music option in Bulverde essentially waits until spring.

The last Tejas Rodeo of 2026 is Saturday, November 28. That's the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, which means it doubles as the out-of-town-relatives-in-town Saturday for a lot of local households. It sells out earlier than a typical fall date, and it closes the March-through-November arena run until spring.

Between those two dates and the 11 PM outdoor cutoff in town, the fall calendar in Bulverde ends up more organized than newcomers expect. You either aim at an anchor or you aim at a patio. What you don't do is show up to a rodeo at 9:15 PM expecting to see any actual rodeo.
